Our Story

This place right here has a lot more history than you might think. It’s a road well-traveled. For thousands of years, it was home to the Native Americans. They meandered along dirt trails to reach watering holes, hunt and gather. In the mid 1800s, German immigrants were first to establish homesteads near Scenic Loop and Boerne Stage Roads along the Old Spanish Trail. This spot became the main stagecoach route from Leon Springs to Boerne and helped to spur a prosperous local economy.

In the later part of the same century, The Great Western Cattle Trail became one of the nation’s first big cattle migrations, running alongside this very spot from San Antonio to Boerne and northwards onto Nebraska. Nearly seven million cattle were transported to ranches and farms along this path each year until the cattle trail finally dwindled away in 1893.

In the 1920s The Scenic Loop evolved into winding scenic touring route for San Antonians – a place of beauty where city dwellers could escape. Today, visitors and cyclers continue to flock here to experience the beauty and richness of the Texas hill country. Today, you’ll still see old ranches and arms around. And you can’t escape the wild deer, coyotes and other wildlife that continue to make their home out here.So sit back, relax and enjoy food, fun and familia while you connect to the past and look to the future.
